Acclaimed French actress Adèle Haenel spoke with radio host Laure Adler about her current theater play L’étang, Gisèle Vienne's adaptation of Robert Walser's writing Der Teich (The Pond), her activism and her stage career, among other things in this in-depth, sometimes awkward interview. Interview recorded in Paris on September 15, 2021 on L'heure bleue on France Inter.

Please note that I tried to preserve as best as possible Adèle's idiosyncrasies, while simultaneously trying to translate halfway intelligible English phrases. As anyone who does translations for real knows, you cannot always accomplish both. But I know how committed Adèle’s fandom is and thus opted for preserving her speech quirks at the expense of well-written English to give her non-French speaking fans a flavor of her diction.
