Manwë, as the Elder King, is responsible for the safeguarding of Arda and the Children of Ilúvatar. He, alongside the Valar, are seemingly controversial figures when it comes to their handling of Melkor and his evil deeds in Arda. This video explores a particular essay, and shares Tolkien's thoughts on the apparent "folly" of Arda's king. I hope that it demonstrates that there is more to Manwë's role in Arda than just stopping Melkor at all costs.
