One EPIC weekend getaway!
Mt.Kasahingan or mt. kasalsalngan Is a newly opened tourist destination at the rice capital of the country. Located at Brgy burgos Caranglan Nueva ecija, Approx 1hr to 1.1/2 hr drive from San Jose city. It opened last October 2020 and our team is just the 3rd lucky group of individuals to scale the approx 15km Mountain - Forest - Falls - river traverse to falls number 1 vicinity where we set up camp for the night.
The whole traverse trail is divided into 4 segment. From Brgy Burgos hall where the jump off is located, you need to walk for an approx 1hr to an unpaved road to reach the mountain foothills, then as you walk further and gaining elevation, sections of rice fields are needed to cross to reach the grassy and pine trees forest segment of the trail, sceneries are more likely of a cordilleras mountains Mt. Ugo, Ulap, Pigingan. after a mild to very stiff ascend you will reach the view deck where you can see the mother falls (falls no 4) at the heart of a wall like virgin forest scenery.
Next segment is the forest trail segment. A very dense forest trail that you'll be needing to crawl under and over some broken trees and thorny vines. Just try tomake extra cautious as rattans and other thorns are present on this trail. At some portion on this section you will need to use rope support on some 60-70 degrees angle slippery descents going to the last segment which is the falls-rivers terrain segment. From here you'll experience countless river crossings, kiss the wall crawl portions and mini rappels to complete your extra ordinary hiking experience.
Truly one of my best hike experience so far.
