#ExploringWalk The KL Monorail Line is one of the components of the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System in and around Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Line is numbered 8 and coloured Light Green on official transit maps.

The Line connects the KL Sentral transport hub in the south and Titiwangsa in the north with commercial, shopping, and entertainment areas in between.

To travel on the whole Line from KL Sentral to Titiwangsa takes 27 minutes. Normal fare is MYR 3.60.

This urban monorail line has been in operation since 2003. There are a total of 11 stations on the Line located along the southeast and northeast regions of Kuala Lumpur.

The KL Monorail Line is 8.6 km long, with stations from KL Sentral as follows :

KL Sentral ( southern terminus )
Tun Sambanthan
Maharajalela
Hang Tuah
Imbi
Bukit Bintang
Raja Chulan
Bukit Nanas
Medan Tuanku
Chow Kit
Titiwangsa ( northern terminus )

KL Sentral Monorail station stands on Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields, behind the Nu Sentral Shopping Mall. The station acts as one of terminating stops for the KL Monorail Line.

KL Sentral ERL Station for KLIA Transit is about 7 - 10 minutes walk away from KL Sentral Monorail station.

KL Monorail Line is running on two parallel elevated tracks. The two termini, however, are on a single track. Segmented switches exist at each terminal station for reversal of train direction.

The KL Monorail is a straddle system and the guideway runs mainly above the median of main roads in Kuala Lumpur’s central business district. Stations are spaced at about 800 meters in the CBD.

The Monorail stations are designed as elevated structures, with ticketing facilities on either the ground level or the first-floor level. The platforms are on the top floor.

The trains used on the KL Monorail line are permanently coupled four-car trains. Each of these trains can accommodate 430 passengers per trip during regular operations.

Along the journey from KL Sentral station to Titiwangsa station, the KL Monorail connects with other public transport services. Interchanges between KL Monorail with other public transport services require exiting the Monorail stations’ paid area. Two exceptions are BBCC-Hang Tuah and Titiwangsa.
