This weeks woodworking joint is the Japanese Castle Joint or Shiro Joint. It’s an ultra strong utilitarian joint used in furniture, timber framing, chairs, tables and staircase banister construction. It has been used by some of the best craftsman and furniture makers in the world when you desire an ultra strong joint that can take a lot of weight and abuse on any force plane (down, up and sheer).
