Per the FDA, medical devices when packaged are classified as either Class I, Class II, or Class III. According to the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health the classifications are based primarily on the risk the medical device poses.
Per the FDA Class I medical devices are generally deemed low risk while Class III devices are deemed the highest risk.
