“Trace Fractal,” presented at Bucheon Art Bunker B39, is a project conducted in collaboration with installation artist Oh Soonmi and the vertical dance team Project N3. In this project, the story unfolds with temporality and spatiality in a location connected to the MMH and Bunker which was a waste incinerator.
We, who exist finitely in infinite space, will one day disappear, and be reborn as life force in some form. This cosmic energy is invisible but exists in the “Traces” from relationships between others installed in the MMH and the “Chaos Fractal” in the 39m high bunker. It will lead you into thinking about relationships to material things. In addition, we hope that the narrative performance connected to each space will provide an opportunity for deep reflection on the inherent nature of humans through the infinite space of the mirror structure and real-time reacting video.

부천아트벙커B39에서 선보이는 “흔적의 프랙탈(Trace Fractal)”은 설치 작가 오순미와 버티컬 댄스팀인 써드네이처와의 협업으로 이루어지는 프로젝트이다. 이번 프로젝트는 쓰레기 소각장이었던 부천아트벙커b39의 멀티미디어홀과 벙커 연결된 장소에서 시간성과 공간성을 가지며 이야기가 전개된다.
무한한 공간 속의 유한하게 존재하고 있는 우리는 언젠가 소멸하여 어떠한 형태로든 생명력으로 재탄생하게 된다. 이 우주적 에너지는 멀티미디어홀에 설치된 타인의 관계에서 비롯된 “흔적들”과 높이 39M 벙커의 “혼돈의 프렉탈”에서 눈에 보이지 않지만 존재하고 있는 비물질적인 것에 대한 관계의 사유로 빠져들게 할 것이다. 또한 각각의 공간과 연결되는 서사적 퍼포먼스에서 거울 구조물의 무한 공간과 실시간 반응하는 영상을 통해 인간이 내재하고 있는 본성에 대한 깊은 성찰의 기회가 되길 기대해 본다.

Stage 1. MMH | Traces / 흔적들
“Traces” are octagonal in shape with four mirrors and four passages. Inside, mirrors repeatedly reflect, creating an infinite space that makes it difficult to gauge the width and depth of the space. The soles of the feet engraved on the mirror are an allegorical expression symbolizing the most insignificant part of humanity. People's footsteps are combined and each person's name is engraved on each sound. This act shows the organic relationship between people that is invisible but lives on leaving numerous traces. In a variable space that responds to real-time sound and constantly changes by the projected images and projections on the wall, the viewer becomes a medium of relationships and an object of thought.
“흔적들 (Traces)”은 4면의 거울과 4개의 통로로 이루어진 8각의 형태이다. 내부는 거울들이 반사를 거듭하여 공간의 넓이와 깊이를 가늠하기 어렵게 무한한 공간을 만든다. 거울에 새겨진 발바닥은 인간의 제일 하찮은 부분을 상징하는 알레고리적 표현이다. 사람들의 발금을 조합해 발금 마다 각자의 이름을 새겨 넣는다. 이 행위는 사람과의 관계 속에서 보이지 않지만 수많은 흔적을 남기며 살아가는 유기적 관계를 보여준다. 실시간 소리에 반응해 벽에 투영되고 투사된 영상에 의해 끈임 없이 변하는 가변적인 공간 속에서 관람자는 관계의 매개체가 되며, 사유의 대상이 된다.

Stage 2. Bunker | Chaos Fractal / 혼돈의 프랙탈
“Chaos Fractal,” installed on the 39M wall, creates a chaotic space due to the constant flow of video and audience movement, but has a fractal structure within it. The circular (yang) and square (yin) marks engraved on the wall can be said to be a kind of cosmic diagram that represents the harmony of all things and contains various meanings. In this space, the viewer analyzes the viewer's movements with a sensor and converts the input information into infinite graphics, and experiences the space (microcosm) created by the viewer.
39M 벽면에 설치 된 “혼돈의 프랙탈(Chaos Fractal)”은 쉴 새 없이 흘러나오는 영상과 관객의 움직임으로 인해 혼돈된 공간을 만들어 내지만 그 안에서 프랙털의 구조를 가지고 있다. 벽면에 새겨진 원형(양)과 정방형(음)의 표식은 하나의 만물의 조화를 이루며 다채로운 의미를 포함한 일종의 우주도라고 할 수 있다. 이 공간에서 관람자의 움직임을 센서로 분석해 입력 받은 정보를 무한대 그래픽으로 변환시키는 주체이며, 본인 스스로 만들어낸 공간(소우주)을 경험하게 된다.
