I give a lot of credit to young Noah Doak who was organizing a peaceful protest because the park was shut down last year all of a sudden without warning so that city and contractors could finish supposed work that no one really needed done, and add an addition that no one wanted...the park could have stayed open during this process. It was really damaging to the youth community to have the park wrenched away like that. The city wouldn't explain anything, no one even knew when it was gonna re-open. Back to Noah, he sent out a flyer on instagram and Facebook letting everyone know to come this Saturday and rally around the park (peacefully mind you) ...and lo and behold...yesterday, three days before the protest there is a grand opening with city officials doing press conference and ribbon cutting etc. ...acting as if they did a huge service to the community. Well, there sure are pretty flowers up now and lots of fences...at least it is back open! Woohoo!!!
