First Presentation :
Invite the child
Introduce the activity
Have the child brings the material on the tray and the guide brings the felt mat to the table
Sit down
Unroll the felt mat
Show the child the content of the boxes.
Open the gold box, put the lid at the bottom. Place the box on the left of the tray. Take out the ten gold bead bars and show them to the child. Put the gold beads bars back to the box. Keep the box open.
Open the red box and place it in the middle of the tray. Take out the beads and show him the color bead bars, say: “Do you remember where do you see this color beads?” The child response: at the teens and tens and counting chains. Put back all the beads inside the box.
Close the red box
Open the white and black box and place on the right of the tray. Introduce the black and black white beads that are inside, take them out. Take one unit and say this is one (the child count with you) and place it on the right corner of the mat with enough space to make an inverted triangle, from 1 to 9. Invite the child to count each beads with you. When you reach to 6, point out that the beads after 5 and say: “We have 5 black beads and one white bead to make easier to count, start count at 5 and the next one is 6”. Count with the child until you get to 9.
Keep the black box open on the right side of the tray
When finish forming the inverted triangle,
Take out the counter
Tell the child, we are going to make color snake with this beads
Take out an amount, a bunch of color beads from the red box (you can take 2 of each color and 4 of light blues, it will become all golden beads, it is also easier for the control of error at the end).
Close the red box
Create a color snake by connecting the color bars in random order. Make it look like a snake.
Tell the child: We are going to turn this color snake into a golden snake
There are two rules:
We are going to count to ten, every time we make ten, we need to exchange to a ten golden bead bar.
We always start counting after the last golden bead bar.
Start counting using the counter, when you get to 10, leave the counter on the bead to keep your place. Take out a golden bead bar from the box and place it above or next to the counted color bead.
Ask the child: How many beads do we have after the counter?
The child will count the amount and add the black or black white beads that correspond to that number and place it after the golden beads bar. We also can say: “I cannot break the bar so we have to exchange with the black white bead bar.”
Take out the counter and put the color beads that we exchanged to the black box
Do 3 or 4 times and invite the child to continue counting from the last gold bead until he finish ten and continue the process by exchanging for the gold bead bar and place the color beads into the black box. The black white beads back to the inverted triangle
When done, Say: The color snake has turned into a golden snake, Let’s check our work
Go to the control of error 1
When finish checking, show him how to put the material away

Control of Error 1
Place all the gold ten bead bar vertically, place it on horizontal rows, across the bottom of the mat
If there is black or white black bar, place it at the end
Take the color beads from the black box and place them on the mat
Invite the child to check his work by making tens, using the color beads from the original snake. For example: take 9 beads with 1 bead to make 10 and place them next to the ten gold bead bar, and ask: what do we need to make 10, Invite the child to make ten with the color beads and place it next to the ten bar.

Note:
If by any chance you have color bead bar that you cannot break, put the one color bead back and exchange with two color beads from the red box.
Tell the child if you have remaining color beads instead of black white beads, it means he has to do the snake game again.
Tell the child that it always has the match between the color and the black beads, if does not match then you make mistake.
