This educational video focuses on Frontotemporal Dementia (or FTD). FTD is a form of dementia where symptoms can start as young as 45-65 years of age, and typically progress at a rapid, steady rate. Dementia is not only about older people. FTD is one of the neurodegenerative diseases studied by ONDRI in their research studies.

This video focuses on understanding symptoms of FTD and treating people with dementia with understanding and kindness. Related resources are available at Alzheimer's Society of Ontario and Ontario Caregivers Association.

This video is adapted from "The Dementia Experience", produced by the Durham Regional Police Services, in Ontario, Canada. The original video was made in collaboration with Alzheimer Durham. The intend is to use the video, along with other support material, to inform police officers and our community partners across Ontario, and possibly beyond, in the area of Dementia.

The Ontario Neurodegenerative Disease Research Initiative (ONDRI) is a provincial collaboration studying Dementia and how to improve the diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of associated diseases including Alzheimer’s disease/Mild cognitive impairment, Parkinson’s disease, Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Stroke.

ONDRI is carried out in partnership with the Ontario Brain Institute.
