Haridwar
A city in the northwestern part of Uttarakhand, Haridwar is situated on the banks of the Ganges River. It's known as the place where the Ganges leaves the Himalayas and enters the plains. Haridwar is also the site of the headworks of the Ganges Canal system. Har ki Pauri is a must-visit place in Haridwar, where the Kumbh Mela and Ardh Kumbh Mela are held every 12 and 6 years respectively.

Rishikesh
A spiritual town located 24 kilometers upstream from Haridwar, Rishikesh is known as the "Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas" and the "Yoga Capital of the World". It's located at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga rivers. Rishikesh has many temples and ashrams along the river banks. It's also known for hosting the annual International Yoga Festival in the first week of March.
