EDIT: according to Jerry Langwell who runs nindestruct.com: "So these loops actually came from a contest held in 2000 or so. The image you showed was the flash-based interface used to make a quick and dirty on-the-fly remix (or "eMix" I believe they called it) and the winner won (I think) a busted Yamaha DX-7 used on the Self-Destruct tour."
