I went to the FPEA Homeschool Convention this year with the intention of purchasing Abeka as our next curriculum after leaving The Good and The Beautiful. When I went to the Abeka section, I flipped through the first grade curriculum.

I was not impressed.

It reminded me of the typical textbooks we used when I taught public school. The fonts and colors even looked the same. I honestly did not get a full chance to look through the entire curriculum, but I made the decision to explore other avenues. While I was in the Abeka section, I entered a raffle for a free year's worth of Abeka.

I travelled to other sections and became interested in the Charlotte Mason method of homeschooling which is basically the complete opposite of Abeka. I actually almost dropped 700 dollars on a complete Memoria Press first grade curriculum.

3 days after the convention, I got a call saying I had won the Abeka raffle! I couldn't believe my ears. Was this God's way of telling me I should have just gone with Abeka from the start!?

Our curriculum finally arrived! And honestly.....I AM IMPRESSED.
