My advice to women who interested in wearing hijab

1. Please buy quality hijabs. Don’t get the cheap stuff…YOU WILL HATE IT.
2. Try to buy hijab fabrics that suit you face. For me, jersey hijabs are my favorite. I live and die by them. Are they best for the summer time? Probably not, but I love them and they suit my face.
3. Find community. For me I have Rabata. I haven’t been there in a while, but I really enjoyed going for Sunday Halaqa and attending all the other events they had going on. It’s a great way to meet people.
4. Take it easy. Please ease into it. And don’t expect perfect from yourself. You cant go 0% - 100% real quick. That’s not how change works. Hijab like everything other thing is a habit. Everyday you wake up, you make the decision to keep wearing it and to wear it well.
5. Get an undercap. Something that will put a barrier between the hijab and your hair. Something with satin in it. Add clip if undercap. I don’t want you going bald.
6. Please be careful for how you tie your hair undergo hijab. Please don’t lose your edges.
7. Please take care of your hair under your hijab. It’s not tempting to abandon your hair, but as someone whose hair almost loc-d up and was in tangles…don’t do it. Especially for my black girls with 4c, please have some sort of routine builtt around your hair. And please ask for help.
