Canada and many other countries have imposed sanctions intended to isolate and limit Iran's international reach.

But Global News has learned two brothers evaded those sanctions and illegally shipped equipment to Iran.

The brothers then returned to Ontario, where they had lived prior to their arrests and applied to change their names. In April 2022, the request was granted.

As Nathaniel Dove explains, the men were able to remain in Canada.
