There are all kinds of scam cures out there. One of the most offensive is Amygdalin or a sit otherwise called laetrile. Scammers call this vitamin B 17 although it is either a vitamin nor the 17th B vitamin.

If it were just a misnomer than it would just be a scam. Sure a stupid scam but just that. The problem is that amygdalin is is even more dangerous than just a scam.

Amygdalin produces cyanide when metabolised. Cyanide being incredibly dangerous at even low doses.

Of course this point is very quickly brushed over by snake oil salesman, charlatans and scammers. For some reason telling people they are being sold poison hurts sales. This is why it is ignored or denied.

Unfortunately for the charlatans but fortunately for everybody else the chemistry is clear cut.

What allows the scam to succeed is simple. Amygdalin is is a naturally occurring product. You can find amygdalin in all sorts of fruit such as peaches, plums and apples.

Importantly it is not through out all of the fruit but almost exclusively the seed. That means you can eat the flesh of the fruit with out worry. That core or seed is another matter entirely.

The kernel or seed of stone fruit is sold as a natural remedy. A natural source of cyanide. That does not make it any safer.
