Legal and Compliance may seem like appropriate bedfellows but they are in fact not. Legal plays the role to as the advocate and defender of the business whereas Compliance must ensure regulatory compliance, uphold ethical standards and has an obligation to report to report to authorities. When one person wears both hats or one reports to the other this can give rise to big problems.
