Titled "Recollections of the John Brown Raid by the Hon Alexander R Boteler a Virginian Who Witnessed the Fight" in it Alexander Boteler, member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia's 8th district, interviewed Brown after his capture. At one point Boteler is convinced that John Brown was faking his wounds however any claims from Virginian sources can be taken with a slight pinch of salt. Boteler would become representative of the Confederate states.
