Miranda do Douro is a land of centuries-old traditions, of natural borders built on water and of timeless customs rooted in Portuguese culture. Located at the easternmost point of Portugal, northeast of Trás-Os-Montes, it is one of the twelve municipalities that make up the district of Bragança. Its ancient Cathedral is the largest temple in the Trás-os-Montes region since the Council of Trent and houses one of the best Mannerist altarpieces in the entire Iberian peninsula.
