Very few people live in the North Pole despite its stunning beauty and icy islands. With the freezing temperatures, why would anybody want to live there? But a remote island group, Svalbard, north of the Barents Sea in the Arctic Ocean is home to 2,600 people and it belongs to Norway. Why do so few Norwegians choose to live in this isolated region at the top of the world? Actually, not only Norwegians live here, we’ll talk about this later, but before let’s talk about what makes Svalbard so isolated.
