A student's Neck was broken as a result of the Instructor "Sinistro" attempting a risky Jiu-Jitsu technique. There is now a $46 Million court case, that has been found in the favour of the Injured student Jack Greener. The situation is tragic and results in Jack becoming a quadriplegic and having to undergo many surgeries and being robbed of a healthy and happy life.

The controversy is the role of Renner Gracie as an expert witness. His testimony resulted in the court finding Sinistro negligent. Renner Gracie was paid $100,000 for his role in the case. The problem is he also dictates industry standards that are simply his standards not actual BJJ Standards.
