We took the opportunity to test out our latest curve design with a Neptune 3 in the workshop yard to see how well it performed. On this tight radius curve we had no derailments and the flanges where not being excessively worn as the loco went round these tight curves.

The loco, riding truck and track are all available through the MRW website and made here in the UK https://www.miniaturerailwayworkshop....

More details about the track.
Curve (V Radius) 5 inch gauge Portable Jubilee Track Panel
3.88M [12ft-9in] radius curve

Our ( V ) radius curve is a very tight radius curve and is designed for use in back gardens and confined areas where space is at a premium. These panels allow you to build a railway in almost any confined space with ease. We would not recommend these curves for regular commercial/public railway as there is an increased risk of derailments with this tight radius - use in these environments is purely at the operator's discretion. They are however ideal for a back garden setup or even for use inside with family and friends.

This new design is derived directly from our original track panels, which have been proven to be of a popular design which easily slots together, meaning an entire railway can be built in just minutes.

As these curves are very tight in nature we do not recommend them for long wheelbase locomotives or stock. We have successfully used an Abbots Neptune 3 which has a fixed wheelbase of 0-6-0 without any derailments or significant immediate wear on this radius but would warn that regular very heavy use may cause excessive wear to the wheelsets and rail due to the tight nature of the curve.

5inch gauge points will also soon be manufactured in this radius so if you are looking for an entire railway ready to run, this is the ideal radius to opt for. For more information on points please contact us directly.
