Short turnaround times on self-tapes seem to be a complaint by some actors I've talked to. They say that they just don't have enough time to properly prepare for an audition. Sometimes they'll get an audition notice at noon on Tuesday and it's due by 10am on Wednesday!

I believe the reason you're feeling this way is because you have to DO IT YOURSELF! You have to set up the lights, the backdrop, the camera, find a reader, and be OFF BOOK! As opposed to the way it was before when all you had to do is just memorize your lines, make your choices and drive to the audition.

I know it's a lot more work than it used to be, but remember, everyone else is in the same boat. Remember all of the actors you're going up against also have a short turnaround for their self-tapes too, so you're not the only one. DON'T PANIC! Just do your very best and remember, "How you feel is more important than what you say" when delivering your lines. Don't try to be perfect!
