Footage taken on the (23/8/20) August 2020.

Train Services ran through Charlestown from 1895 to 1963.The town of CharlestownCo.Mayo and the village of BellahyCo.Sligo (Charlestown and Bellahy are joined together they are on the border line of Co.Mayo and Co.Sligo) had a Train Station on the GS and W railway line from ClaremorrisCo.Mayo to CollooneyCo.Sligo.The railway line today is more widely known as the Western Rail Corridor.Charlestown Train Station opened on the 1st of October 1895.It closed to Passenger Train Services on the 17th of June 1963.And finally closed altogether to Freight Train Services on the 3rd of November 1975.

It is currently envisioned that when Phase 4 (Claremorris to Collooney) of the Western Rail Corridor is restored and re-opened Charlestown Train Station will be re-opened and Train Services from Galway Claremorris and Sligo will serve Charlestown Train Station once again. This will be very good for the Town of CharlestownCo.Mayo and village of BellahyCo.Sligo opening them up once again to the Irish Rail Network.
