Drone footage released by Chinese state broadcaster on Monday (July 8) showed ships and excavators filling a breached dike with rocks and boulders at China’s second-largest freshwater lake in the south of the country.
By 10am (0200 GMT), 142 metres (465-foot) of the 226-metre (740-foot) stretch of breached dike were sealed at Dongting Lake in Hunan province, with 7,680 residents evacuated, CCTV reported.
