His father is a biologist, so he instilled in him a passion for nature's science that has remained with him ever since.

Since he was five years old, his love of fishing has helped him navigate life. He is grateful to his father for being so patient with him and for teaching him so much along the road. It wasn't until 2015 that he was reintroduced to fishing by his friend Brian after migrating to the US in 2008! Since then, they have researched and learned about many of the fishing opportunities he shows us in his videos on their own.

His Ford Econoline camper van is his preferred mode of transportation for visiting distant fishing locations. It features a huge 500-mile range, 2 Seats, a Twin Size Bed, 12V Power, a Kitchen, a supply of Fresh Water, a Roll-Out Awning, and 35 Gallons of Fuel Capacity. It soon gained popularity after being converted and used in multiple YouTube episodes of the show! He is always working on this project and hopes to travel full-time someday.

He joined YouTube back on Sep 28, 2018, but he launched NWFS on April 2nd, 2019, with his first upload! His channel's original goal was to produce entertaining and instructional fishing videos as a creative pastime so that he might one day reflect on the experiences he had as a young person. He didn't understand his love of fishing, the outdoors, and videography could be shared with the world until the channel began rapidly expanding in late 2019. When he was a young boy fishing for little wild trout in those streams in the German Black Forest, he would never have imagined that he would one day pursue the vocation of his dreams.

He comes from Anaheim, California. He began his work at Compass as a broker, and Currently, he works as a full-time YouTuber and lives with his two dogs, Tikka and Kiara. As of 2021, he will be 34 years old. When he was wild camping and capturing freshwater trout in Cascade Mountain, NW Fishing Secrets was also highlighted on the biggest American news website, The Guardian. His online store at Teespring and his role as an Amazon associate provide him with the majority of his revenue. Similar to this, Leif has already monetized his channel, earning regular revenue from YouTube advertisements.

As of 2022, his channel had 559k subscribers, and of the 116 videos uploaded so far, it had received roughly 61.9 million views. He posts two to three videos on his channel every two weeks. His subscriber base is expanding, adding around 400 new subscribers every day. Over 4 million people watch the entire uploaded videos each month. He thus derives all of his income, estimated to be $278 a day and $194,655 annually, from YouTube ads on his videos.

Leif's estimated net worth, including his affiliate revenue, is $3.8 million as of 2022. His hard work and creativity have never let him down and fueled him to such a great milestone.
