It's not magical, you can crochet all the double crochets of the 1st round in one chain! This is in my estimation the best and the easiest way to crochet a flat circle of double crochets of round one of any round crochet projects that begins by a certain number of double crochets. It's not only easy but it's also more beautiful than beginning with a magic circle or a ring of a number of chains.
