The rain and wind didn't deter locals who were out in droves at services and marches across the region.

Today we commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who served in conflicts, and peacekeeping operations across the world.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
