Photinia Red Robin is a lovely evergreen bushy shrub which has become increasingly popular over the last 20 years because it hardy and easy to grow and puts on a great spring / summer show of vivid red leaves from the new growth.
It also makes a fantastic evergreen hedge - which is quite easy to control and trim to keep it at a required height.
In this video Roger is cutting back the new growth, which has mostly faded back to green by midsummer, by doing this summer trim Roger hopes to keep the Photinia in a neat domed shape and to get a 2nd flush of bright red growth later in summer.
