Los Angeles is known for its movies, its beaches, and of course, its emblematic palm trees. Not native to Southern California, 30,000 palm trees were planted for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, and many of those palm trees are still alive today...but for how much longer? With environmental pressures urging the city to landscape differently in the decades ahead, will Los Angeles eventually replace its signature palm trees with something else?
