Grandmaster Tigran Petrosian was the World Chess Champion from 1963-1969, one of the great Soviet players. He was born in what is today a great chess nation due to his influence, Armenia.
Was he an attacker? A defender? His unique style is hard to categorize. He liked to sacrifice exchanges, walk a tightrope with his King and prevent danger from miles away. "Iron Tigran" was a hard player to beat!
