John Philip Sousa : Nymphalin
John Philip Sousa (1854-1932) was an American composer and conductor known as "The March King." He is best known for his patriotic marches, such as "The Stars and Stripes Forever," "Semper Fidelis," and "The Washington Post." Sousa began his music career as a member of the United States Marine Band, where he served as the band's conductor from 1880 to 1892. He then formed his own band, which became famous for its performances of Sousa's marches and other popular music.

In addition to his work as a composer and conductor, Sousa was also an advocate for music education and a prolific author. He wrote several books on music, including "The Fifth String," a novel about a young violinist, and "Marching Along," a collection of his own marches and other music.

Sousa's legacy continues to be celebrated today, and his marches are often performed at patriotic events and parades. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970 and the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in 1996.
