Back in a time before streaming services and the Internet, one of the main sources of entertainment during the late 1800s and early 1900s was vaudeville shows. One of the most famous vaudeville shows during the time was Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.

One of the stars of the show was sharpshooter Annie Oakley. She joined the show in 1885 and wowed audiences with her sharpshooting mastery. She would shoot a cigar out from her husband's lips and even split a playing card edge from 30 paces out.

The stories surrounding Annie Oakley are truly legendary but her life story is also one filled with tragedy, which we will now explore.
