Sugito town, Saitama was the fifth post town in Nikkokaido Road. It was established by the order of the Edo Shogunate in 1616, about 400 years ago. At the end of the Edo period, the town had a population of 1,663, 1 chief hotel(for Daimyo), 2 semi-chief hotels and 46 traveller inns.
