I tried wet tumbling a few years ago. Got my red rock tumbler, steel pins and Lemishine soap. Great results, but what a mess overall. Since I was dealing with water, I decided to stick to the kitchen sink. Big mistake. So many pins down the drain/disposal. No Bueno. Gave up on it for a while.

Couple of years later over a holiday sale, I though I'd get back into wet tumbling as I found a Hornady wet tumbler on sale for an excellent price. Just never got around to wet tumbling.

Recently when I was reloading for 5.7x28 and discovered the best way to clean the brass and keep the outer coating was a gentle wet tumble. Did it by hand, but it got me thinking about wet tumbling again.

I was poking around online and found a media separator specifically for wet tumbling and steel media. I'm sure there are some who use their dry separator for their wet tumbling, but I keep mine separate. This two part composite combo will separate the brass in one tray, letting the pins and water pass through to the second tray, which has a screen for catching the pins while allowing the dirty water to pass through to the bucket. Nice idea.

I show how it should work in theory and proved once again why I will not wet tumble or bring steel pins near my kitchen sink!
