The idea to re-release Shang-a-lang came about when band members Stuart ‘Woody’ Wood and John McLaughlin joined Greatest Hits Radio presenters, Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey on their breakfast show back in December 2023. Ahead of the Scotland men’s national football team heading to Germany for EURO 2024, it felt like the perfect time to release the new version of the smash hit and raise money for Cash for Kids.

Scottish superstars including Sir Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle, Gordon Strachan and Ross King (in front of the iconic Hollywood sign!) have joined Ewen & Cat and many other famous Scottish faces such as Jackie Bird, Michelle McManus, Callum Beattie, Kyle Falconer and John Mackay of STV to lend their support to the charity single that sees all proceeds raised donated to Cash for Kids, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children locally and across Scotland.
