~ My mom says if you hold a buttercup under your chin, it'll make your chin glow ~

This is a song about the early years of Buttercup and Bright Mac's relationship, and how it began to blossom into something much more after that fateful day he ran headlong into Grand Pear's water silo.

I've had this instrumental on my computer for goodness knows how long. It's originally from a cute little song by UnderpΩny made using a sample of William Anderson's background music from an early episode of MLP, and I remember downloading the instrumental way back when thinking I wanted someday to try my hand at writing my own lyrics over it. And thus, it sat on my hard-drive collecting dust... that is, until what might just be my favorite episode of My Little Pony premiered in Australia yesterday, and I felt a wave of inspiration like I haven't felt in months, perhaps years.

Thus, this song was written and recorded over the course of a single day, and I cannot describe how proud I am of it ^^

HUGE props to UnderpΩny for this spectacular instrumental, I hope you like my weird little take on it bud! =D Also massive thanks to PrinceWhateverer for mixing this song on such short notice, and Mimijuliane for being so kind in allowing me to use her artwork~ All these people are super talented individuals, so be sure to check them all out ;D

Cheers all~ Hope you enjoy the song! (Now if you'll excuse me I have to go watch the episode again for the 10th time and continue crying tears of bittersweet bliss :'D)

Lyrics:

1, 2, 3… woah

Wakin’ early
Risin’ with the crack of dawn
But the apple farm ain’t my destination
Down at silo
Grand Pear keeps me workin’ hard
Oh but he don’t know what drives my dedication

Each and every day
I work with one eye turned her way
To catch the slightest glimpse of my fair maiden
Her bright blue eyes
Are sweeter than Granny’s apple pies
Oh, what can I do to catch this mare’s attention

My Buttercup
You just keep your chin held up
Sure as flowers bloom across this town
No family feud can hold us down

Dear Buttercup
We can light the orchard up
If our love is real, let’s let it grow
Our stars will shine, no one will know

My Buttercup
You just keep your chin held up
Sure as flowers bloom between our farms
Know you’ll be safe here in my arms

My Buttercup (x3)
You’ll be safe here in my arms

Up on the hill
Down near Ponyville
I swallow hard, and search my heart, for the right words to tell her
15 years are in the past
Feels like we both grew up so fast
And we’re still looking for an answer

I try to speak before I burst
She tells me that she loves me first
The best gift she ever could ever give me
Our families might not get along
But on our own we sing our song
Beneath the apple and pear trees, we’re lovesick escapees

My Buttercup
You just keep your chin held up
Sure as flowers bloom across this town
No family feud can hold us down

Dear Buttercup
We can light the orchard up
If our love is real let’s let it grow
Our stars will shine, don’t care who knows

My Buttercup
You just keep your chin held up
Sure as flowers bloom between our farms
Know you’ll be safe here in my arms

(My Buttercup (x8))
Oh, you’ll be safe here in my arms

For the last month or two, I have been unable to write anything I like, It seemed like no words I could put together in rhyme were good enough. To be honest I really started to question whether I had run out of lyrics to write. I was incredibly frustrated with myself.

And then along came this episode, and all I can say is it is so releasing to get this done as quickly as I have. I know it's not a perfect song, it's likely nowhere near what some might consider my "best songs", but that day yesterday I sat down and did nothing but force myself to create, for the whole day, and I can't even describe how happy it makes me that I was able to break down those mental barriers that were keeping me from finishing anything

I love you all so much for giving my music a chance, thank you! ^_^
