Bebe Rexha Interview | I sat down for an interview with Bebe Rexha on her tour bus immediately following her set at the Detroit stop of the Vans Warped Tour 2015. No stranger to rock from a literal standpoint, having bypassed lemonade in favor of opening a rock stand with her next-door neighbor as a youngster ("We would sell the rocks for $1, and we actually made a lot of money"), not to mention playing in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar at the encouragement of her father, who then considered anything outside of classical as being the Devil's music, the multi-faceted musician appears to be settling in quite well to her surroundings on the legendary and traditionally punk festival excursion.

During our candid conversation, the New York native of Albanian decent, whom it should be noted can essentially write hits in her sleep – whether for her own projects or the likes of Eminem, David Guetta, Pitbull, Selena Gomez, and Tinashe to name a few – reflects on her humble beginnings of recording in a booth that used a filthy, pee-stained mattress for drowning out sound ("I'd try not to breathe through my nose!") and literally sleeping with her keyboard at night growing up ("It was a full-sized bed so it wasn't that bad"), before opening up about the daily struggle to tame her inner beasts upon learning that the monsters aren't lurking under her bed, as she was once led to think.
