Automating volumes is often the easiest and quickest tool you need to improve your mix.
I am mixing a song called Maledetta primavera, which is one of the songs on my debut EP.
It is a classical guitar instrumental cover version of the song, to brighten your day.

I show you how to add energy to the last note of the song by adding a bit of volume to some key instruments, such as the kick drum, the bass and the lead guitar. I'll A/B the before and after for you, so you can hear the difference more clearly.

Finally I summarise my mixing tip for you: volume is the easiest and quickest tool to improve your mix. Try it first before doing any of the more complex processing, and you'll see that tweaking the volume is often all you need.
