If you guys have been watching me long enough or have randomly searched "Schindler Miconic 10" on YouTube, you may remember these elevators. Located in Portland's Tallest Building, I originally came here in 2016 to film these elevators solely for that reason, and while I was excited to get to ride my first Schindler Miconic 10s, I did so without realizing how rare they actually are and I never would've thought that my original video of these would have gotten so many views, but it did, so you guys must've really liked these elevators and have probably also been trying to find more videos of original Miconic 10s that WEREN'T at the NYC Marriott Marquis. Unfortunately as we all know, those elevators have since gotten a PORT mod, and not long after those got modded, several of you guys noted that these had been modded again with PORT, and after reading your comments, I decided to see for myself how true this rumor was. And unfortunately, I can confirm the rumors are true, the Miconic 10 system is gone. I can definitely understand why this building decided to replace the original Miconic 10 panels and dispatch system given how glitchy the Miconic 10 was when I came here originally, but it is still unfortunate given how rare Miconic 10 is and the fact that it was the first Destination Dispatch system EVER MADE! (The first ones ever were installed in 1993, and the first American installation was installed in 2002!) That being said however, even though these elevators may no longer be Miconic 10, these elevators are still a TON of fun to ride and well worth visiting as all they literally did was replace the Destination Dispatch panels & indicators and redo the cabs, beyond that they're still mostly the same from the Miconic 10 era. Something that I do find interesting that they did when these got PORT is they added the New Schindler voice most commonly seen on 5500 installations which plays before the elevator arrives on the floor, but they also kept the Miconic 10 voice from the previous mod which plays when the doors actually open! I do definitely find it strange that they did this, but I like it though! I'm just thankful that aside from the changes I mentioned, these elevators thankfully are still they same and are still a ton of fun to ride! And I'm glad this place went with PORT and just did an overlay to the existing elevators and not do a full mod to Compass since those are now EVERYWHERE in Portland...
With this all said however, I hope you enjoy this fresh video revisiting some of my most viewed elevators on YouTube that haven't been seen in MANY years!
