Here now is Tokyo Disneyland's Western River Railroad and their whistles. Similar to the Walt Disney World Railroad, every engine shares the same whistle but this time there appears to be no differences between any of them. All four of the engines share a common lineage to Ernest S. Marsh of the Disneyland Railroad by resembling the Rio Grande's Montezuma, a 2-4-0 tender engine from Baldwin. This is the narrowest of all the Disney Park railroads at a gauge of 2 foot 6 inches (compared to 3ft) and is the only railroad to not have a locomotive roster in a simple numerical order since each number is a reference to a special year (25 the year Walt married Lilly, 28 the premier of Mickey Mouse in "Steamboat Willie," 53 the year Walt pitched the idea of Disneyland and 20 when Walt and Ub Iwerks started Iwerks-Disney Commercial Artists). Engine 20 shares lineage to (Euro) Disneyland Railroad Paris and the Disneyland Railroad because of her white smokebox and brass cap stack like E.P. Ripley, respectively. Hope you enjoy the sights and sounds of Tokyo Disneyland!
