The keynote lecture "To Understand through Images"provides some reflections on Harun Farocki's filmic essays. Following Aby Warburg's and Walter Benjamin's understanding of history as "history of sufferings", following Theodor Adorno's understanding of the "Essay as Form", Didi-Huberman situates the relation between thought and emotion in Farocki's images.
