This time, Mr. Nampula will go to the world heritage "Ayutthaya ruins" in Thailand

This is where we are going today

・Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit (Giant Buddha that survived the Battle of Ayutthaya)
This temple has a white chapel that stands out even from a distance. It seems to be a popular place for Thai people.
At first glance, it looks like a new temple, but the Buddha statue inside the chapel here was already made in Ayutthaya around the 16th century.
The city was completely destroyed during the war with Burma, but it is said that this Buddha statue remained as it is today. I think that this big Buddha has seen the history of this place.
The chapel is a new building that was built later, but it seems that it was built with donations from Burma.
Looking at the old photos inside the chapel, you can get a sense of what it was like back then. A black-and-white photo of the Great Buddha that survived and the people of that time are taking a commemorative photo on an elephant.
I feel that this place, which is still loved by people today, continues to live by human hands.

・ Wat Phra Si Sanphet (a royal temple in the Ayutthaya Royal Palace)
For those who visit Ayutthaya for the first time, this elegant and beautiful pagoda is a must-see spot!
Looking at the powerful pagoda, it makes me wonder how gorgeous this area used to be.
The ruins here are temples built next to the palace in Ayutthaya. It seems that it was a place where ceremonies for the royal family were performed.
The three large pagodas in the center are the tombs of three kings. It has a beautiful Sri Lankan style.
It still retains its appearance at that time, and it is said that it is an important clue for understanding the architectural style of that time.

・Bueng Phra Ram Park (beautiful garden in the ruins)
This is a garden in the back of Wat Mahathat, and the terrain is like an island. The scenery of the waterside and the plants in the garden are beautiful, and you can spend a relaxing time walking around the city of ruins. Ayutthaya has an image of ruins, but I was surprised that there are many places where you can feel green like this.

・Pon Phet Fortress (Fortress at the gateway to ancient Ayutthaya)
This fortress is built at the gateway to Ayutthaya from the sea.
It is an important place to prevent pirates and foreign invasions, and at that time cannons were placed here.
It is also said that trading ships coming from overseas were inspected and unloaded at this place.
There is a protective wall surrounding the island of Ayutthaya, which was originally made of mud, but was later rebuilt with bricks.
