In this episode the operation of the so-called Dickson charge pump circuit is discussed. It is also known as a voltage doubler or voltage multiplier. By this means, that are produced by the converter DC DC taken in the example of the video, the 2 voltages essential for the operation of the LCD screen. These 2 voltages are called VGH and VGL.
