Large Homemade Evap Air Cooler! My Biggest DIY Evap Air Cooler yet! holds 20 gallons of water and can run for 16 hours straight! *before needing a refill. best of all, it's super easy to make! a "modified" 3-speed box fan acts as the blower-motor, a tote acts as the water tank and a small water pump moves that water over the cooling pad. approximate airflow rates: 1000/1500/2000 CFM on L/M/H. approx. water flow rate is 200gph. unit begins cooling within a couple minutes of startup and reaches max coolness at around the 10 minute mark. unit cools the air 20 to 30 degrees! during testing it dropped air temps from the mid 80's (29C) down to the lower 60s (16C). maximum temperature drop is about 30 degrees on the hotter/drier days (100F in 71F out! at 5% humidity). just takes a few things to make. the main parts are a 20" box fan, 20 gallon plastic tote, 1/2" PVC pipe, 1/2" clear vinyl tubing (ID), small water pump (approx. 200gph), a couple of plastic 2x4' "egg crate lighting panels" and the cooler pad. for this unit i chose the "honeycomb-style" (rigid-media) type of pad. it's made to be sturdy, durable and long lasting (plus it's relatively thick so it works well with high airflow fans). the video includes full instructions on how i put it all together. note that i used a 'wood support' and a 'plastic panel support' to hold the fan. the 'wood support' allowed me to show the inside of the unit as it was running (but, for the finished project, it's best to only use the plastic panels). if you need more info, feel free to ask any questions that you have. also, remember to rate, share and subscribe for the latest content ✔🙂🌞😎⭐

tip: be careful when price-shopping these types of cooler pads. look around. hessaire and champion seem to have the best size options for a 20" box fan. and they typically sell them for under $20 at the home stores (home depot etc.). i paid $18 for it.

2nd tip: you can add ice or ice blocks to the water for a temporary super cool breeze. *adding ice gives you conduction cooling along with the evap cooling. and this ones got the room for big blocks! maybe even freeze water in a bucket then drop the "ice-block" and bucket right in the tote.
