In this cover of ABBA's "Voulez-Vous," I took a different approach to the bassline. The original track features 16th-note octaves, which can be a challenge for many bass players, myself included. Instead of sticking to that, I opted for a more dynamic interpretation. I kept the disco vibe with steady 8th-note playing, while occasionally popping on the 16ths to maintain the groove without overwhelming the listener.

Playing 16ths throughout the song can feel a bit repetitive and even tiring on the ears. I believe the bass should complement the other instruments, like hi-hats, which provide rhythmic texture. By mixing up the groove, I was able to create a bassline that is not only groovy and dynamic but also works closely with the lead and rhythm sections. I'm really happy with how this new bassline feels and sounds—it's a fresh take that still honors the original, but with my personal twist.
