Weekend backpacking trip in the Marble Mountain Wilderness. I started at Lovers Camp Trailhead, headed over the Marble Gap down into Rainey Valley where, fitting it’s name, it rained quite hard and I had trouble staying on trail due to many downed trees and overgrown trail. Eventually making it to Rainey Lake, I decided to hike an extra couple miles to visit Spirit Lake which was the destination of my first backpacking trip in 2005. Day 2 started with a hike to Marble Rim, then on to Shadow Lake before taking Red Rock Valley back to the trailhead.
