The cyclone dust collector catches 99% of the dust and debris going in, while you are vacuuming. This means you will clean your vacuum cleaner less frequently, and spend way less money on vacuum cleaner bags. Also, the vac works with its full potential all of the time, since the engine stays clean, and it doesn’t get clogged with dust, preventing it from loosing suction.

All you need, to make your cyclone dust collector, is the cyclone separator filter itself, and a bucket with a lid, which can get 100% sealed when it’s closed. No air should be able to get in or out. In my case I am using a metal bucket with lever lock ring lid. You can also use any plastic paint bucket.

The cyclone dust collector I am using has an improved design. The bottom part of the separator (the one that goes inside the bucket) is curved to one side. This increases the turbulence and helps the dust and debris to go inside the bucket faster and more efficiently. The cyclone dust extractor is molded from an antistatic resin, which prevents the dust from sticking to it.

The cyclone dust separator is mounted on the lid of the bucket, by cutting a hole in the center of the lid, with a diameter of 76mm (or 3”). Then you make 4 more holes for the screws and the cyclone filter is ready to be attached. Connect a vacuum hose from the vacuum cleaner to the top entry of the dust collector, and then another hose from the dust collector to the tool you want to use, or you can just use the hose itself for cleaning.

And this is how you make your own vacuum dust extraction system with a cyclone dust collector. Now your home vacuum cleaner, or your shop vac, will thank you.
