Yury Shulman is inducted into the U.S. Chess Hall of Fame Class of 2023 at CityPark. This induction coincided with the 2023 U.S. Chess Championship Opening Ceremony.

Yury Shulman’s record in U.S. Chess Championships is notable for both its excellence and consistency. Shulman played in nine of these events after moving to the United States from his native Belarus where he was national champion in 1994 and European Junior Champion the following year. Shulman won the U.S. Championship in 2008, finished second in 2006, 2010, and 2011; tied for third in 2005 and 2007; and shared fourth in 2004 and 2012. His lifetime winning percentage of 61.5 percent in these events is among the best ever. Shulman represented the United States in two Olympiads, winning team bronze in 2008, and two World Team Championships, winning team silver in 2011.
