We say ODEs of the form M(x,y)dx + N(x,y)dy = 0 are inexact if the partial derivatives dM/dy and dN/dx are not equal to each other. In such cases, we need to turn them into exact ODEs in order to solve them using methods learned in previous videos. In this video we show how to find an integrating factor that allows for the transformation of an inexact ODE into an exact ODE.
